While Cassy London’s golden locks and gloss-slick fuchsia lips are immediately striking, the depth belied by her dramatic blue eyes is anything but skin-deep. Born and raised in Southern California, Cassy began her musical journey at age six and went on to become a classically trained vocalist. She is known for her unique voice which has been described as a mix of angelic rock and soulful legato. Cassy cites Stevie Nicks, Lady Gaga, Kate Hill & Amy Lee among others as her musical influences. As a songwriter, Cassy has co-written and collaborated with Grammy Award winning artists and producers, in which during that time she developed her own specific style of writing and craft. London maintains that while hitting musical notes is essential, creating emotion and emphasis must truly draw in the listener. Currently, Cassy is promoting her second single “Wonderland, ” from her much anticipated EP that will be released this year. Her soulful voice emerges above the din and noise of the everyday jumble of events to arrive at solace and the innocent outlook that only true experience can afford. We got the opportunity to ask Cassy a few questions about her recent release of “Wonderland” and her upcoming EP release, right here on Entertwine!
Hi Cassy! Thanks for answering a few questions for us! What have you been involved in the last couple months leading up to Wonderland’s release? The lead up to the release consisted of remixing and making final touches to Wonderland, photo shoots, brand design for the single, getting my live show together & the most fun of all is coming up with ideas w/ my team for the music video 🙂
You recently released a new single titled, “Wonderland”. What was your inspiration for this track? I wrote this song when I was really going through a period in my life where I felt like I was being pulled in a lot of different directions & given a lot of opinions about where to turn next. but what this song is about is no matter what anyone says, the best way to go is to continue to follow your passion or your “Wonderland” & I truly believe if you keep going with that drive and love you have for something, you will reach your goal if you don’t give up. At times it can be scary because the future is unknown, but sometimes thats the beauty of it because amazing things can happen in life at the most unexpected times. Everyone has their own “Wonderland” whether its about your career, or someone you love, etc its what makes YOU happy! Thats the direction to go
What was the recording process like? How have your listeners reacted so far? The recording process was so funny and ironic at the same time because it was a lot like the story of “Wonderland” because we didn’t know exactly what type of song we wanted to make or what it was going to be about. It just really formed on its own and kept developing for the next few weeks, it was an honest story about what was going on in my life at that exact moment.
My listeners so far have really responded well to this song because I feel everyone can relate to it and like I said before, everyone has their own “Wonderland” and we all go through the same process of feeling scared, or doubting ourselves at some point. But breaking through those tricks our mind plays on us is a great feeling because you overcome that fear and dig deep inside to find that passion we all have for something.
Do you have plans to release a full length anytime soon? If so, can you give us any details on this project? What a lot of people don’t know is that I’ve written and recorded hundreds of songs and I have a great catalog to choose from. I definitely am planning on releasing a full length album soon, but right now I’m focusing on releasing an EP first.
What is next for you in 2016? So far 2016 has been amazing. “Wonderland” is now playing on radio so this is a super exciting time and I’m loving every second watching it grow, and my fans/friends being so supportive. I’m finishing the final touches right now on the EP so I can’t wait to release that & get out there to perform it!
