After a long way full of different experiences, two young brains meet again in a moor between fog and melancholy near Milano. Davide-Kristof (son of Janos Acs, an important Hungarian Conductor) and Federica Sara raise a project of European sounds, shuffle with the traditional Italian melody. The result is the perfect combination of iLLacrimo. We got the opportunity to speak with the members of iLLacrimo, and get to know them a bit better, as well as hear about the work that went into their latest EP release, and what they have in store for the rest of 2015!
How did you all meet and begin writing music and performing together? What is the significance of the band’s name?
It all started with the renewed meeting between Federica Sara Falletta (Voice) and Davide-Kristof Acs (Guitar). After some time and different experiences, iLLacrimo acquired their final formation welcoming Raffaele Lamorte (piano and lead sinth), Dario Vanoli (bass), Alessandro Napolitano (Drums), Giovanni Lima (sinth).
What is it like living in Vercelli, Italy? What is the music scene of your area like?
Vercelli, between Turin and Milan, is a small town but still with some valuable places to play live. There are a lot of small and medium venues where to play live and a very wide range of bands of different genres..
What events and experiences inspired the writing and recording of your debut EP “iLLacrimo”? Could you tell us about each of the featured tracks?
Every songs in the Ep is very personal for us, we like to write about different themes. “Chains in the Cold”, our first single, it’s about the 1905 Russian Revolution, “Burning Fields”, the opener track, talks about a man, a woman, and his/her dream for a better future, “1000 Reasons to” it’s a deep, sad song about love and treason, “No longer” it’s about our society, and “Non Credi” talks about a lover.
What was the recording process for the album like? Matteo Cifelli of Fastermaster Studio mixed the EP in London, right?
Yes the EP was recorded in Milan and mixed in London. It was a great honor to work with Matteo Cifelli, who became an important adviser on many aspects of the production, starting from choosing the right tracks to insert in the EP.
We work a lot on Facebook, that today allows us to reach many new listener all around the world. Of course, since we are a music band, we exploit services such as Soundcloud and Spotify to share our tracks. Oh, we are on Twitter too!
What went into the making of the music video for ‘Non Credi’? Who came up with the video’s concept?
“Non Credi” was our first video production, so we choose to do it “by ourselves” as much as possible to express our true vision. The concept was from Federica, then we made some storyboards and lastely worked with a couple of young videomakers from Milan.
Are there any hobbies or activities you enjoy as a band or individually outside of music?
As every respectable band, we enjoy some drink after a rehearsal session and of course after every live!
What does 2015 hold in store for iLLacrimo?
For sure, a lot of live shows. That’s our core activity, the best way to express our music and to have a direct contact with our fans. Meanwhile we will work on a full album, since we received very positive review on our EP and we can’t wait to show more!
