ILLUMENIUM is an independent Estonian rock band active since 2014 October. Right now the band is on “Towards Endless” tour in Europe, making mixture of old school and new school. We got a moment to catch up with ILLUMENIUM, and we asked them a few questions about their band’s history, as well as some details about some new music they are currently writing and recording in the studio!
Entertwine: How did the members of the band meet and begin writing music and performing together? It was an accident. We were in Graz, Austria having a rehearsal when ILLUMENIUM first came.
What is the significance of the band’s name? What is the music scene of Parnu, Estonia (the band’s hometown) like? Long story short: Italy, police pulled us over and asked is we were illuminati because of the singers tattoos. That gave inspiration to our singer. Music scene is Estonia is more modern stuff…
What experiences or events influenced the writing and recording of your debut album “Towards Endless 8”? Tour life and the death of a band called “Defrage”inspired.
What musical equipment, instruments and programs were used to create this record?
At studio we use Cubase. Simply the best. Most of the songs are full improvision on the spot mixed together. Toomas Paidra, the owner of Zorg Laboratoy Studios did a unbelivable job!
What went into the making of the music video for your song ‘My Last Cocaine’? Haha… going to a vacation in Spain turned out to a music video…
What was it like filming in the Tavernas Desert (Albox, Spain)? At that time it was cold and windy. View was great and we got a lot of great material.
The band is currently on a European tour in support of the record, correct? We are touring europe independently with our debut album tour.
What can you tell us about the new material that the band is currently writing? NEW album coming next year!
