Get to know Korveil, the singer, songwriter, and record producer from Chicago, with his hot new dance record “Feeling Alive.” It is a feel good song with a blend of EDM energy and pop vocals. The music video is a fun collection of footage showcasing dancers, musicians, and random moments from the streets of Chicago and Los Angeles. “Feeling Alive” is available on ITunes, Spotify, and every major retailer.
Entertwine: Could you tell us about your musical background? What led you to pursue songwriting and music production? You’re an actor, too?
In my teen years, I was in an R&B quartet with some guys from my Humboldt Park neighborhood. We landed a record deal within 2 weeks of forming the group. Since we were still developing, the label had us hanging around the studio doing a lot of background vocal work for other artist. During those sessions, I ended up discovering a natural gift for hearing music. I would make recommendations to change lyrics, to rearrange vocals and music to award winning producers and artists and majority of the time they used what I suggested.
What is the electronic / dance scene like in Chicago?
The Dance scene in Chicago is quiet, in my opinion. Their are a lot of EDM festivals, but I wish their were more opportunities for the artist who are actually singing on the records. Most of the clubs don’t even have a stage, just a dj booth.
What went into the making of the well-thought out, well-executed ‘Feeling Alive’ music video? What inspired the writing and recording of the song in the first place?
“Feeling Alive” is a fun song so I wanted a fun video. When I wrote the song I envisioned people from all walks of life dancing to it so I tried to capture that on video. I made the beat in about 1 hour, and wrote it in less than 5 minutes. Initially, I recorded the vocals as a demo to teach another artist how to sing it, but I ended up falling in love with the record, so I decided to keep it.
You also write and produce for other performing artists, including Voxo Music artist Malgivski, correct?
Yes I wrote & produced “Dance With Me” for Malgivski. They are twin sisters from Ukraine. That record was released summer 2014, but we are about to relaunch it in spring 2015 to territories that never heard it.
What does 2015 hold in store for Korveil?
I have a record called “Everything” releasing spring 2015, and an EP in the summer. I also have a few projects that I’m writing and producing for. Also, I’m planning to expand VOXO Music Group. I would love to add some new artists, and producers to the label.
