Entertwine: What experiences or life events have shaped your music? As a young child, I have always had a passion for music. During my teen years I started getting my feet with with performing, spreading my interest in different genres, and recording music. My mother was really supportive of my career and pushed me to do what I love, sing. At one point,I had to put my music on the back burner. My mother became ill. She suffered many strokes and heart attacks. I still kept music very close to me, certain songs will even evoke a particular emotion or experience that I had from the past. In fact, for most of the important events in my life, there is a piece of music that will bring me back to that moment in time, even if it’s only for a few minutes. I would sing for my mom, knowing that it would clearly serve as therapy to her and myself for calming moments, knowing that she was suffering. After she passed, I knew music was still my heart and interest, and that it was time to further express my love for music.
Who or what influences you to write and perform? My mother is still the one main reason why I continue to choose music, because she instilled principles in me that wont let me let it go. Aside from that,
in entertaining I chose to give hope, and inspire others to do what you love and believe in yourself.
What are some of the most exciting live performances you’ve been a part of? One of the most exciting performances for me was when I opened up for Bad Boy recording artist Cheri Dennis. I always liked Cheri, I believe that she is an extremely talented artist and I was honored to do that for her. Also when I think back on that performance, I can vividly see all the lights, the big stage, and the sound of all the fans cheering. I really felt pumped inside. It was at that point that I knew that I was certainly called for this business. It’s like an adrenaline rush that comes over you when your out on stage. I also liked opening for the Universal Music recording artist Jae Millz. Just put me on stage… ( Laughs)
What is in store for you for the rest of 2015?
For 2015, I’m looking forward to continue what I’ve always dreamed of, performing & recording. I am working on my EP. I have not titled the project yet, but it will definitely be a body of work that combines my life experiences, and provokes my listeners to want to dance. I really love the mood and excitement that comes with EDM. Its one of my favorite genres of music, so this new project is definitely heavy EDM with a little bit of Pop and R&B.
I am also looking to get out there and perform for some festivals and concerts. I love doing live performances so thats definitely a big thing on my agenda this year.
